The Four Basic Female Body Types

female body types

There are four basic types of female bodies. They are the hourglass, banana, S-shape, and pear-shaped. Read on to learn more about these body types and how to best flatter them. Also, learn more about the health benefits of each of them! We are influenced by media, culture, and other factors that influence our body type preferences. Hollywood icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Paris Hilton were once considered the ideal female bodies. These ideals, however, change frequently.

Hourglass body type

The hourglass body shape is commonly associated with celebrities, such as Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez. These women both have a flat bottom and a large chest, but these body types are more likely to be described as pear-shaped. In addition to being hard to dress, these women tend to gain weight unevenly. Weight usually comes on the top half of the body first, and then the hips and thighs follow. Those who have a pear-shape waist can hide imperfections by wearing a wrap dress or a sleeveless top.

Pear-shaped body type

A woman with a pear-shaped body type can benefit from the correct swimwear. Ruched tops, asymmetrical necklines, and high-waisted bottoms will draw the eye upward and accentuate the right curves. Tankinis with fit-and-flare tops will highlight the correct curves. Wear a ruffled top under a crop top to create visual interest.

Banana body type

If you have the female banana body type, it’s probably time to start thinking about what you can wear to improve your overall look. While you can’t hide your flat abs or a clumsy stomach, you can add definition and volume to your outfits with color blocking and belting. Flare leg jeans and A-line skirts are also great options for women with this shape. They create the illusion of curves and give the impression of a flattering waistline.

S spoon body type

The female S spoon body type has hips that are larger than the bust, a slim waist, and a rounded upper body. Its narrower upper half is complemented by leaner arms and legs. Unlike the pear body type, which doesn’t have a defined waist, spoon-shaped women are not usually considered fat. Despite their spoon-like shape, they should avoid wearing baggy pants or wearing pants that are too short.

Diamond body type

The diamond female body type is more petite and doesn’t have a full midsection or large bust. Its waist and shoulders are narrow and its hips are broader. This body shape is often considered the perfect balance between proportion and sexiness. Those with this shape should avoid wearing shorts and tight jeans, which give them a squat look. Stick to a-line, structured, belted, or cinched waist styles.

Lollipop body type

The Lollipop female body type has a long slim waist and a big bust. It is often associated with models, celebrities and supermodels. The lollipop female body type is popular among fashion designers, because of its flattering proportions. Most fashion designers love this body type for its ample bust, slender hips and long legs. However, a Lollipop should avoid wearing top-heavy clothing and styles that emphasize the boob area.
